Dr. Christopher Spence

The Fall Mountain Regional School District is proud to announce that effective July 1, 2023, our next Superintendent of Schools will be Dr. Christopher Spence.

Dr. Spence is an educator with many diverse experiences across the education continuum. He has worked in both traditional public and charter schools, within both urban and suburban schools. At the elementary, middle, and secondary levels he served as an English language arts teacher, middle school dean, and assistant principal. Most recently he was the assistant superintendent for strategic planning for the Rochester City School District, East EPO.

Dr. Spence is a graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo (SUNY), Educational Leadership and Policy Ph.D. program. In addition to his doctorate degree, he holds two masters from the same university in English education and educational administration, as well as a bachelor’s degree in English from Hilbert College. He also holds two certificates from SUNY Buffalo: School District and Building Leader.

Throughout his career, he has strived to ensure that students have an opportunity to achieve personally and academically irrespective of their demography. Much of his work is centered on improving student outcomes and reducing impediments to students’ success. The crux of his academic and professional interests has been centered on understanding the ways in which systems work explicitly and implicitly to produce outcomes within schools and the broader society.

Dr. Spence enjoys reading, time with family, traveling, and connecting with his community. He is excited for the opportunity to lead the Fall Mountain Regional School District, and he is looking forward to the chance to meet and engage with members of his new community!
